Repeal of Installation of R410A

Environmental groups are mobilizing to fight the EPA’s decision to remove installation dates for residential and light commercial R-410A systems. Now is the time to activate the contractor community and show strong support for this change.

Installation dates in the Technology Transition Rule put wholesale distributors at a serious disadvantage.

Using installation dates as a compliance trigger creates risks beyond distributors’ control, leads to stranded inventory, and makes enforcement nearly impossible. By contrast, manufacture and import dates are documented, enforceable, and already standard in other federal regulations.

Your voice matters. Here’s how you can help:

  • Write to Congress: Urge them to ban installation dates as compliance triggers in all rules.
  • Contact the EPA: Tell them installation dates should never be used for compliance.

Take action now—submitting your comments takes only minutes, but your impact will last.
