Consumer Rebate Guide
Utility companies in your area offer rebates to consumers for smart thermostats and high-efficiency equipment including furnaces, air conditioners and boilers.
Please note: For the ComEd rebate, discount(s) should be applied to the homeowner’s invoice. You must be an enrolled ComEd Energy Service Provider (EESP) to participate. Not an EESP? Click here to enroll.
This program only pertains to central air conditioner units, ductless mini-split heat pumps and air-sourced heat pumps through ComEd; all other utility rebates need to be claimed through the utility provider. Click here for a list of qualifying product rebates through ComEd.

Smart Thermostats
ComEd offers up to a $75 rebate on smart thermostats. For a full list of qualifying products and qualifications, visit this site.
Nicor Gas offers a $25 rebate on smart thermostats that are ENERGY STAR certified. They now are offering smart thermostats and furnace bundles. Visit the rebates page of their website for more information.
Furnace and Boiler Rebates
The local gas companies also offer rebates on high-efficiency furnaces and boilers. More information can be found on the utility’s websites:
- Rebates are available from Nicor Gas on furnaces and boilers that are 95% AFUE or higher. They also have rebates for tankless water heaters and combination boilers that are 95% AFUE or higher. Visit Nicor Gas for complete information.
- To get more information for Trade Allies or joining the Contractor Circle program, visit the Trade Ally page.
- Nicor is offering On Bill Financing. To offer this, contractors must apply. For more information and the application, visit the EFS Website.
- Rebates are available from People’s Gas and North Shore Gas for furnaces that are 95% AFUE or higher, steam boilers that are 82.% AFUE or greater and hot water boilers that are 88% AFUE or greater. Visit the People’s Gas or North Shore Gas website for more details.

Air Conditioner and Heat Pump Rebates
ComEd also offers rebates on central air conditioners that reach 15 SEER or higher and ductless mini-split heat pump rebates that reach 17 SEER and 9.5 HSPF or higher. Visit the ComEd website for more details.

Note: ComEd requires contractors to be ICC certified for their customers to receive a rebate. This is because of the Illinois FEJA law that took effect January 1, 2018 and only effects electric utilities. Nicor Gas does not require ICC certification.
